CHF International serves as a catalyst in communities to provide families with the resources they need to obtain or improve upon their existing houses. CHF helps families access housing schemes provided by governments or donors and leverages the support of private sector partners wherever possible.
CHF’s urban development India programs leverage the local economic development opportunities of housing programs by facilitating vocational training for community members, hiring them whenever possible, and facilitating other urban infrastructure upgrades.
In the process of learning how to improve their living environments, our programs expand representative community groups’ abilities to complete additional projects on their own.

They learn how to work transparently with contractors, mobilize physical and financial resources, report on project progress to their communities, develop new leadership skills, and hold their governments accountable.
As a pioneer in housing microfinance, CHF also works to promote access to the credit and financial services people need to improve their living conditions and realize their dreams.
