Have you ever been searching for a game to play, but never came across something that keeps you entertained for more than a couple of hours?
Have you ever found yourself purchasing game, after game and realised how much money they consume?

The chances are likely, these have happened to you. They have happened to most people. The truth is the average game will only consist of 10-15 hours of gameplay after which the game has lost its appeal to most people. Very few games will be entertaining if played through more than once, and that soon becomes a very expensive hobby!

The reason I believe role playing games are the way forward is due to the fact that they will eliminate both of these problems. A role playing game will have hours, upon hours of gameplay. Not just that, but it is extremely likely that once you have completed the storyline and you want to play the game again, you will find that the scenario and turn of events will be hugely different, if not completely unique to the previous outcome. If you find yourself strapped for cash and enjoy gaming, a role playing game is definately the way forward. I am a firm believer in quality of gameplay, and no other genre has found to be as effective when it comes to total immersion than a good role playing game, either online or offline.

There are multiple reasons why role playing games keep the player attracted for so many hours.

Character progression – Starting with nothing and ending with everything, appeals to many people.

This can actually be related to our real lives, where we always thrive for something more. Relating this into a game world is a highly successful move as it keeps our human passion for hunger of greater and better things, always alive.
World immersion – Beautiful graphics and an enhancing world can often make a fantasy world look even better than the real world we live in! Being able to explore and adapt to a world is a great feeling, and is one of the feelings you will really enjoy in a role playing game.
Replayability – Most roleplaying games will have different paths you can take for your character. Choosing one path will mean next time you can choose another. There are also constantly new things to discover in a fantasy world and chances are you didn't find everything the first time round. In a good role playing game, the world is ever changing and you should never play in exactly the same world as before.

Both single player and multiplayer (MMORPG's) will have all of these traits. It is up to you to decide whether you want to play with real people and develop your journey with others, or choose to play on your own and delve deep into a world with no boundaries. Either way, you definately won't be bored of a good role playing game in any case. The genre is worth a try if you haven't given it a shot already!
