Ayrton Senna da Silva was born on March 21th 1960. He was one of the legendary Brazilian racecar drivers. The public knew him more by the name of Ayrton Senna.
Ayrton grew up in a well-known and respected family of a Brazilian planter. From childhood, his father indulged him with expensive gifts, including cars. Ayrton’s father also had an interest in racing. He gave a lot of attention to the sport and huge amounts of money for its development. At his insistence Ayrton drove a race cart at the age of 4.
Ayrton Senna inherited his father's passion for auto racing. In 1973 he made his debut in the championship race. And in 1977 he had already taken first place in the South America carting championship. In 1981 Ayrton won the British Championship in Formula-Ford 1600. The following year he conquered Formula-Ford 2000. In 1983, Ayrton Senna became first-ranked in the UK and won in Formula 3.
In late 1983, the young but already well-known Brazilian driver started his career in Formula One. He joined command "Toulman” and got placed three times with it.
In 1985, Senna moved to the sports club «Lotus». At first season in the new team he won a Grand Slam. At the end of the season, Ayrton Senna had a lot of technical problems on the track starting from broken electronics to mechanical problems. In 1986, the season for Ayrton was more successful.
At the race in Brazil he came at second place and he took fourth place at the world championship.
From 1988 until 1994 Senna played for the club "McClaren". "Master of qualifications", "Rain Man" - these nicknames he had received during this period. He won his world titles in 1988, 1990 and 1991. In 1994 he moved to the team “Williams-Renault”.
1994 season was the last in the career of the legendary racer. Ayrton Senna took part in his last race on May 1st 1994. That race (the Grand Prix of San Marino) was called the “Dark Weekend”. Senna's car clashed with a concrete barrier at high speed. Ayrton died after admission to hospital.
He was only 34 years old. The memory of him still lives in the hearts of millions of fans around the world. The grave of Ayrton Senna at Morumbi Cemetery in Sao Paolo, Brazil became a place of pilgrimage. Many racers visit the grave during the Grand Prix of Brazil. The inscription on the tomb states: "Now there is nothing that can disturb me from the love of God".
Ayrton Senna was recognized as the greatest driver in the history of motor racing. During a short but successful career in professional motorsports he was a three-time world champion in the class "Formula One".
