THE REALLY BIG QUESTION IN BIBLE PROPHECY CIRCLES TODAY

One of the most frequently posed questions related to Endtime Prophecy discussions is:
Does the U.S. appear anywhere in Bible prophecy? I wrote a book in 1967 discussing this very question. At that time, few students or scholars were were much concerned about America’s role in the last days. But that scenario has changed radically in the present. Look on the Internet under America or the U.S. in Bible Prophecy and there are many books and articles being written, from many different viewpoints concerning America’s place in the endtimes.

Most writers and commentators on the subject of America’s place or destiny in the future from a biblical standpoint maintain that they can find no direct reference to the U.S. in scripture. Most certainly if you plug in Bible references to America or the United States of America, no references can be found. Of course, the U.S. did not exist in Old Testament or New Testament times. Our great national history began about 1750 years after the completion of the New Testament writings. Therefore, the real question should be: Is the United States described anywhere in the scriptures?

If, indeed, the United States is referenced in Bible passages, why have Bible students and scholars not been able to identify the location of such passages? Perhaps, either the research has not been effective or the U.S. is no longer a significant world power in the last days; or maybe America has been destroyed or collapsed from within. There are many possibilities. Even the Bible scholars who have testified to the fact that they have been unable to find any Bible reference to the United States in scripture, are also puzzled by that fact. They all would expect to find the U.S., the world’s greatest power of all time, referred to in some way Iin scripture.. But no, according to most prophecy writers, no references seem to have been found.

This book, WILL THE U.S. GO UP IN NUCLEAR SMOKE (Or will she be Destroyed from Within?) points out the possible passages in the Book of Revelation where there might be references to America. In fact, if the end is as near as most Bible-believing Christians believe, there is presently NO OTHER NATION on the planet that could fulfill the descriptions found in these Revelation passages. Certainly,.most Christians would expect the Bible to foretell the destiny of the greatest nation on earth, in what we believe to be the last days of the Last Days.

The majority of Christians who are familiar with the dispensational interpretation of the Bible and especially of Bible Prophecy, are waiting expectantly for Jesus Christ to return for His Church very soon. To be honest, most of my Christian friends and I, are surprised that Jesus hasn’t come for His Bride before now! At the same time, we are confident that His Coming for the Church at the Rapture is very close at hand. All the signs of the times are in place and for the first time, everything the Bible predicts is going to happen in the Book of Revelation, which seemed so unlikely for many centuries -: all these great prophecies are coming to pass.

Furthermore, the whole world will be viewing events yet to take place (TV, Internet); calling down fire from heaven (orbiting satellites, rockets, airplanes with nuclear weapons); explosions that shake the whole earth; a code number of the anti-Christ with vital information including the number 666 in the hand or forehead of every person on earth; technology that could make it possible to identify and keep track of every single person on earth (computers and satellite GSP – and much, much more, are possible, just as scripture predicted hundreds or even, thousands of years ago.

And yet, as a result of Bible prophecy studies for more than fifty years of Christian ministry, I happen to believe that the United States may indeed, be found in the prophetic scriptures I wrote my first book about America in Bible prophecy in 1967. No one was even discussing the subject back then. But now, if you look on the internet under the subject heading, America in Bible Prophecy or the United States in the Endtime, you will find that things have changed, and almost everyone it seems, is probing this provocative question.

Not only is it possible that the U.S. is found in the prophetic scriptures, but I think, very prominently, in fact. To my way of thinking, one cannot expect America to be referred to by its historic names or titles, since our country only came into existence in the last 100 years. Maybe then, the U.S. is not identified in terms we use today, but is it possible that she is depicted in descriptive language that can only refer to our nation. It is very likely, in my mind that the United States may be in view in chapters 13 – 19 in the Book of Revelation. That’s my personal conclusion, at least.
