Roughly five years ago, I bought my first quad and it cost me about $700. Since that day, I become a quad bike enthusiast. There were a lot of fantastic quad biking memories throughout these years: drive when sunny and drive when rainy; drive during the day and drive during the night; drive on the mountain and drive on the beach; drive through the forest and drive through the desert; drive with dangerous and exciting; drive with friends and laughing. I have to say I’m enjoying this very much.

Now my friends call me ‘quad expert’ cause I have so much experience of how to drive with the quad bike. To move with the times I will surf on the internet and collect quad bike related information everyday. There are a lot of good sites & blogs such like www.quadbikeking.com.au, www.glenworth.com.au/quad-biking, www.quad-bikes.com.au/blog and www.ballarat.com/quadbikes on which people will share their opinions and good ideas online. I also find there are a lot of people injured when quad biking, and the accident rate is increasingly raised according to the international research. Check below out:

Quad bike pediatric victims are younger; more severely injured and stay longer than the average trauma patient.
Quad bike-related injuries are six times more likely to result in hospitalization and 12 times more likely to result in fatalities when compared to bicycle-related injuries per 1,000 vehicles.
Those involved in quad bike crashes were more apt to sustain multiple injuries and often require surgical intervention.
Quad bike-related injuries tend to be much more severe and more often require surgery and hospitalization than injuries received playing rugby, soccer or riding a bike.

To my opinion, I don’t think quad biking can be this dangerous if you indeed wear the protective equipment and have a basic quad bike driving technique. So here I want to share with everyone my experience of quad biking technique.

1. First thing first, NO DRINK DRIVE & should never drive without protection especially the helmet.
2. Choose a right quad bike, and inspect it before driving. Driving place and route need to be carefully checked as well.
3. Correct driving postures is also important. When you are driving quad bike, please keep your head and eyes up and looking ahead; hands on the handlebars; feet on footrest.
4. Simply starting and stopping in a straight line at the first and then try a similar stopping exercise in a corner.
5. Turn the quad bike at low speed or minimum speed. And speed up slightly as you come out of the turn. Turn the handlebars while looking where you are turning
6. As a green hand, don’t try too steep uphill driving. If the hill you are climbing looks too steep, it probably is. You need to use your common sense as improperly hill climbing could cause loss of control or cause the quad bike to overturn and it is obviously very dangerous.
7. Should never speed up on downhill. You’d better let the transmission do most of the work. Just look ahead and shift your weight to the rear of the bike, maintain a low speed and brake gradually, downhill driving safety will be guaranteed.

With above tips bear in your mind I can sure you will definitely not being hurt during quad biking. Any other opinions and additional ideas will be greatly appreciated.
