In England and many European countries, baccarat is called puntc banco, but it’s the same game as the baccarat of Nevada and th Caribbean. “Punto” means “player” and “banco” means “banker.’ Play punto banco the same I have advised for baccarat. Just makc sure you don’t accidentally sit down at a chemin de fer or baccara table. Many casinos will have all three games, and they look similar, Most clubs will have signs above the tables; but if they don’t, then ask. It could save you a thick wad of traveler’s cheques.

In baccara, there are usually fourteen chairs at the table, numbered 1 to 14. The table is divided into two sides: 1 to 7 and 8 to 14. The croupier deals three hands of two cards each face down. He deals two cards to the Ito 7 side, two cards to the 8 to 14 side, and two cards to himself. Players are called “punters” and the bank is the “banker.” Players cannot bet with the bank in baccara. They can only bet against the bank.

It will become very apparent to new players that gamblers have a language all their own. The preceding section listed some of the strange terms used inside casino walls. There is also a name for almost every type of bet that can be made on a table, regardless of the game. I will attempt to list them all here. I realize that they all have been mentioned in earlier parts of this manual, but I feel very strongly that they should be listed again, all in one common place, so that you need not search to find an answer to any problem that you might encounter in your future gaming experiences.
